Population Health Improvement UKUKPRP Prevention Research Network and the National Institute for Health and Care Research invite you to the second Prevention Research Conference. Join us at Vox in Birmingham, 4-5 March 2026 to explore the latest research and collaborative strategies for preventing non-communicable diseases and reducing health inequalities across the UK.

This event is open to the prevention research community, whether you are conducting research into the primary prevention of non-communicable diseases, developing interventions to reduce health inequalities and illness, or using this research to improve policy or service delivery.

The partnership of PHI UK, UKPRP PRN and NIHR brings together three of the UK’s leading health research networks and funders, enabling Prevention Research 2026 to convene wide-ranging perspectives on the future of research and action for better prevention, population health and equity.

Following the success of the first Prevention Research Conference in 2023, this event will showcase non-communicable disease prevention research from:

Key features of the 2-day conference are:

  • Free registration for policy, NHS, practitioner and third sector partners not in academia. Highly subsidised rates for everyone else (see below).
  • Disciplinary and topic breadth: including upstream prevention (housing, urban development, environment, commercial determinants) and complex challenges (violence prevention, mental health improvement, food systems).
  • Dual emphasis on:
    • emerging high profile research findings from diverse prevention research studies and consortia and
    • improving the practice of prevention research (learning from each other on topics like inclusive approaches, impact generation, systems thinking).
  • An engaging and vibrant format including plenary sessions, oral presentations, symposia, interactive workshops, and international keynote speakers.
